Sakura Hill Runaway Love (Pursuit of Love x Kris) | 2002 15.3h imported from Great Britain Jockey Club registered Thoroughbred mare ________________________________ Runaway Love is a Thoroughbred mare imported from Great Britain with another highly interesting pedigree for the production of sporthorses. Nicknamed "Janey" in honor of our TB pedigree guru "Vineyridge", Janey has a sweet kindness and interest in her human companions that endears her to us. Although Janey has been injured in both hind legs, she has wowed us with her pure hunter movement at the trot. ![]() Her sire, Pursuit of Love, was a G2 race winner and placed many times in black type races. He is the sire of an FEI (2* CIC) event horse competing as a stallion named Cool Response. Green Dancer is one of the best sires of FEI level descendants as is his damsire, Val de Loir and Lyphard. Groom Dancer was sent to Japan as an improvement sire and he and Pursuit of Love are very handsome, and classic looking with very good bone. Lady Berry is an outstanding mare with excellent sporthorse-producing blood both top and bottom. Sailor, Jacopo, Gino, and Wild Risk are all classic old lines that recur time and time again in Dr. Birdsall’s research of jumping horses in North America. Wild Risk is one of the all time great TB sires of sport horse lines in jumping disciplines, from Julio Mariner to a huge number of the highest level event horses, even today. His genes are golden. Further on the bottom, there is a double to Reliance who frequently appears in WB sporthorse breeding. Relic, likewise, is frequent in both European and American sporthorse breeding. Janey on the damside carries the precious blood of Kris. Kris (1976-2004) was a racehorse owned and bred by the 9th Baron Howard de Walden, and trained by Henry Cecil. Kris blood is valued by sporthorse breeders because of the movement, conformation, rideability, and jump that it brings. He was sired by Sharpen Up out of the mare Doubly Sure. Kris ran four times as a two-year-old, winning all starts, including the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury. In his three-year-old season, Kris won the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury and subsequently finished second in the 2,000 Guineas to Tap on Wood. He went on to win the St. James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and beat the older horses in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. Kris returned to Goodwood a few weeks later to take the Group 2 Celebration Mile and went on to win the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot. He finished off the 1979 season with an easy victory in the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket. As a four-year-old, Kris won the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and finished his racing career at Ascot where he was denied a second successive Queen Elizabeth II Stakes by that season’s 2,000 Guineas winner, Known Fact. Kris ran 16 times in all and won 14 races, being placed second on the two occasions he was beaten. His full-brother Diesis was a leading two-year-old in 1982. As a stallion Kris sired Oh So Sharp, winner of the 1,000 Guineas, Epsom Oaks and St. Leger in 1985, and Unite, winner of the Epsom Oaks in 1987. There are two FEI level competitors with Kris close up. One is a jumper mare by Cantus out of a Kris TB granddaughter competing in the Netherlands at the CSI3* level. Another is a granddaughter eventer in Clayton Frederick’s string since age 7. He has competed her since 2006 each year and finished in the Top 10 at Blenheim with her. Sharpen Up is a good line for both eventing and chasing. Anderoo was ridden by Linden Weissman for the US in Sydney. In 2004, Sharpen Up was the damsire of a Westphalian mare by Florestan I (dam full TB) who finished 12th at the YDH World Championships for 5 years. He appears in the pedigrees of many event horses and one BWP dressage horse in Belgium that has competed on their European Championship team. He also has a grandson, Fast Eddy XX, who has produced some FEI level Hannoverian eventers. The double cross to Crepello secures this excellent chaser line that appears very frequently in top level eventers and is the sire of Busted. Doubly Sure is an outstanding mare from the outstanding TB jumper female family 2-o This family traces back to Bronze, the full sister of the founders of both the le Sancy and the Dollar Herod lines, Castrel and Selim. Let us also mention the German TBs prominent in Warmblood sporthorse breeding today-- Surumu is the sire of Acatenango and the damsire of the highly-regarded stallion Monsun. This is the top modern day German racing and breeding family replete with horses that have produced for the Hannoverians and other German registries. To top everything off in terms of breeding in German registries, Kronzeuge is the sire of the Hannoverian licensed TB stallion, Augustinus. Janey will be bred to the Hunter Derby winner Crown Affair for a 2011 foal. *Colt In-Utero Option Available ![]() *Video Of Crown Affair winning the $10,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby at the 2010 HITS Desert Circuit during Week III with John French Crown Affair is a rare combination of a Cor de la Bryere son out of a Capitol 1 mare. This dark brown, 16.2 hand stallion was foaled in 1995 and has an impeccable career as a show hunter. Crown Affair was the Zone 7 Horse of the Year in 2005 for Regular Conformation Hunters. Since being purchased by Yellow Dog Farm in 2006, he has been ranked every year in the top 15 nationally in Amateur Owner Hunters 36 and over. In 2007, Crown Affair was ranked 5th nationally in Amateur Owner Hunters, 36 and over and had a successful campaign Indoors, culminating in being 2 nd in the Amateur Owner World Hunter Rider Finals at Capital Challenge. He received good ribbons over fences at all shows and was 3 rd in the under saddle at Washington and 2 nd at Harrisburg. Since then, he has continued to be Champion or Reserve almost every time shown in Amateur Owner Hunters 36 and over. At the prestigious 2009 Menlo Charity Horse Show, Crown Affair was Champion Regular Working Hunter, Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over, Champion Overall Amateur Owner Hunter and Champion Overall Hunter of the Show. 2005 Zone 7 Horse of the Year in Regular Conformation Hunters and Regular Working Hunters Ranked 10th nationally in Regular Conformation Hunters 2006 (Purchased by Gail Morey in April) Oaks/Blenheim Spring Classic 1 Reserve Champion Open Conformation Hunter Oaks/Blenheim Spring Classic 2 Reserve Champion Open Working Hunter Champion Adult Amateur Hunter 36+ Del Mar Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Oaks/Blenheim Summer Classic 1 Reserve Champion Open Working Hunter Oaks/Blenheim Summer Classic 2 Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36+ Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Woodside Summer Classic 2 Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36+ Reserve Champion Junior-A/O Classic Golden Gate Classic Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Pebble Beach Festival Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36+ Pebble Beach Classic 1 Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36+ Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Grand Champion Overall A/O Hunter Menlo Charity Horse Show Reserve Champion Open Working Hunter Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36+ Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Woodside Back to School Champion Amateur Owner Hunter NorCal Finals Horse Show Champion Modified Junior-Amateur Hunter Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Reserve Champion Jr-A/O Hunter Classic Ranked 14th nationally in Amateur Owner Hunters 35 and over PCHA Champion Amateur Owner Hunters 36 and over Region 2 3rd in Zone 10 Amateur Owner Hunters NorCal Champion Amateur Owner Hunters 36 and over 2007 Hits Thermal Reserve Champion Second Half Circuit Amateur Owner Hunter 36+ Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over Week 6 Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic,Week 6 Pebble Beach Spring Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Pebble Beach Spring Too Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Woodside Spring Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Oaks Summer Classic 1 Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Oaks Summer Classic 3 Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Golden Gate Classic Champion Amateur Owner Hunter (Won every class in the division) Reserve Champion Junior-Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Pebble Beach Classic Champion Amateur Owner Hunter (Undefeated in every class at show) Pebble Beach Classic I Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 + Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Circuit Grand Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Menlo Charity Horse Show Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36+ High Point Amateur Owner Hunter Capital Challenge Reserve Champion World Hunter Rider Amateur Owner Finals Washington Jogged in every over fences class Third in the A/O 36 and over hack Harrisburg Second in the A/0 36 and over hack 4th and 6th over the jumps Ranked 6th nationally in Amateur Owner Hunters 35 and over PCHA Champion Amateur Owner Hunters 36 and over Region 2 3rd in Zone 10 in Amateur Owner Hunters NorCal Champion Amateur Owner Hunters 36 and over 2008 Hits Thermal 4 Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 & over Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Hits Thermal 5 Champion Open Working Hunter Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Del Mar Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 & over Showpark Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 & over Pebble Beach Equestrian Challenge Champion Open Working Hunter Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Oaks Blenheim June Classic 1 Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 & over Oaks Blenheim June Classic 2 Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 & over Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Pebble Beach Classic 1 Champion Open Working Hunter Strides and Tides Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Los Angeles Preview Champion Amateur Modified Hunter Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over Los Angeles National Reserve Champion Open Modified Hunter Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over 2008 Year End Awards Ranked 12th Nationally in Amateur Owner Hunters 35 and over ZONE 10 Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunters 36 and over NorCal Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over 2009 Thermal Week 4 Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Thermal Week 5 Reserve Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Woodside Spring Preview Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over Champion Junior/Amateur Owner Hunter Classic Oaks Summer Classic I Reserve Champion Open Working Hunter Pebble Beach Classic 2 Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over Menlo Champion Regular Working Hunter Champion Amateur Owner Hunter 36 and over High Point Hunter of the Show High Point Amateur Owner Hunter 2010 Thermal Week 3 Winner of the $10,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA Hunter Derby ![]() ![]() |
